Clipping 4 Causes

Clipping 4 Causes was my way of donating my hair for a fifth time while raising awareness about 4 different diseases/syndromes that have personally touched my life. My goal for Clipping 4 Causes was to raise at least $4,000 by April 17, 2015. If my goal was reached, I would shave and donate my hair and donate the money equally among the four foundations:
Alzheimer’s Association
Cancer Research Institute
Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)
National Fragile X Foundation.

It Started with Sports...

In 2000 I decided I had had enough of my long hair, mostly because it kept getting in the way of me playing sports. My mom had suggested donating my hair and since I was going to cut it anyway, it made sense to me to give it to someone who would need it. The only stipulation for me is that it be long enough to pull back when I wanted to playing sports. 12 inches later, I had a new hair do and was able to help someone else in the process.

and Continued with Sports

The last time two times I donated my hair I was a part of the UW-Stevens Point Women’s Basketball team (2009-2010 & 2011-2012 seasons). After our Play4Kay games, we celebrated the communities donation towards our fundraiser by several of us donating our hair. To date, I have donated 42 and a half inches of hair.

Won by a Landslide!

When I set my goal of $4,000 dollars I wasn't expecting the amount of support that I had received. I had reached my initial goal of $4,000 dollars by April 1st. Awesome right?! This meant my hair would be shaved for sure. But I wanted to challenge myself and set my new goal at $5,000. I was amazed. On the day of the hair cut, I had announced that $6,000 DOLLARS was raised from the generous communities that I grew up in and went to school. It was a very proud moment for me and I hope everyone who had participated in it is just as proud of the accomplishment that we reached.

Remember that I had to shave and donate my hair? Well it happened. I had donated 21 inches of my hair to Wigs For Kids, an organization that gives children with alopecia, cancer, and other reasons a wig for free.
